To further realize its vision, the Department aims to:

• offer students high quality opportunities through a range of language tasks for the development of both basic and advanced communication skills required in their particular fields.

• promote realistic simulations of communicative situations through the use of authentic materials such as multimedia and computer technology.

• foster literary appreciation and cultural understanding through analyses of wide range of literary genres and selections.

• offer courses fulfilling both the core and specific language requirements of a variety of departments.

• encourage participation in various extra-curricular activities related to language and literary studies.

• value the environment of mutual respect, trust, courtesy and high self-esteem between teachers and students.

Consistent with the institution’s vision of providing “Total Quality Education and Skills Enhancement Program” in the field of science and technology, the Languages and Literature Department is committed to prepare students for both local and international industry by promoting optimal development of language proficiency and communicative competence focusing on the authentic and functional use of language, both English and Filipino.

Furthermore, the Department seeks to inculcate in students literary knowledge and appreciation through the study of both Philippine and world literatures.
